Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood, and "Birth Control"

Fifty-two years prior to the legalization of abortion, Margaret Sanger was advocating for birth control and operated an illegal “birth control clinic” in Brooklyn, New York.[1] In 1916, Planned Parenthood was founded by Sanger with a focus on eliminating the “weeds” of the poor, unworthy minorities, particularly the blacks.[2] Sanger promoted eugenics,[3] talked at Klu Klux Klan meetings,[4] and stayed in contact with Adolf Hitler, who agreed with her policies and was influenced by her work.[5]

Even in America today, Sanger’s policies are carried out in targeting the poor minorities, and, even today, targeting African-Americans. In 2000, 75% of Planned Parenthood’s clientèle's incomes were “at or below 150% of the poverty line.”[6] Every three days, more African Americans are killed by abortion than were killed in the Klan’s entire history.[7] And, today the large majority of Planned Parenthood clinics are located in minority areas.[8]

Planned Parenthood, however, likes to shade the truth of Sanger’s motives by talking of her outreach to the African-American community. This is true; at least it is how Sanger herself posed birth control and later abortion to her targeted communities. Planned Parenthood also points out that religious organizations played a large part in the popularization of “birth control” in the community.[9] This, also, is true as Sanger said “the most successful educational approach to the Negro [sic] is through a religious appeal”[10] and that the pastors work was important and he should learn their ideals and goals. She continued by saying, “we do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro [sic] population, the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea…”[11]

Interestingly enough, Planned Parenthood was against abortion at least ten years before abortion was legalized saying that “[a]n abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun. It is dangerous to your life and health. It may make you sterile so that when you want a child you cannot have it.”[12] This is still true, but we don’t hear this from Planned Parenthood anymore.

Planned Parenthood now infiltrates communities using deceit as there are several cases where Planned Parenthood entered a community by way of false permit applications. Planned Parenthood also has a history of not reporting cases of incest, rape, and statutory rape.[13] Not only are they not reporting these cases, but in instances of statutory rape they actually advise young girls to lie about their age so they don’t have to turn their boyfriends in.[14] Planned Parenthood has also been accused of performing abortive procedures that led to mutilation, abuse, and death of the woman having the abortion.[15]

Yet, last year alone, Planned Parenthood received $305 million of our tax dollars and made over $60 million in profit. That's alot of profit, especially since they are registered as a "not for profit" organization.[16]
Racism, selected "breeding," deception. This is the legacy of Margaret Sanger. This is the history of Planned Parenthood. This must be stopped.
