Abortive Instruments Through Time

all information from the grantham collection

WARNING: THE LAST PICTURE SHOWS A MODEL OF WHAT THE INSTRUMENT WILL DO AND IS THEREFORE SICKENING. IF YOU ARE LIVING IN YOUR PARENTS HOUSE MAKE SURE THEY APPROVE YOU SEEING THIS IMAGE.

JUST SEEING AND READING ABOUT THESE INSTRUMENTS CAN BE DIFFICULT, THEY SHOW THE HISTORY OF ABORTION - IT WAS NOT JUST A TRIVIAL ACTION. THE PURPOSE OF THESE INSTRUMENTS WAS WELL THOUGHT OUT.

I will not show all of the instruments, only a select few. To see more, visit the above link.

FOR CLARIFICATION: THESE INSTRUMENTS ARE NO LONGER IN USE TODAY ACCORDING TO MY KNOWLEDGE, AT LEAST IN THE UNITED STATES.

A. R. Simpson's Basilysts: These abortion instruments were screwed into the baby's head. Once inside the head, the handle was pushed down allowing a sharp knife to come out and cut the skull into pieces.

It is believed that this abortion instrument was used to turn the baby around in the uterus. It works by inserting the acorn-like device deep into the baby's mouth. The baby swallows it. After some time, it goes down to the stomach. When the cord is pulled, sharp spikes stab into the baby's belly. The baby can then be forced around and down, making the abortion easier to perform.

Braun's Crainoclast: This abortion instrument was applied to the baby's head and then twisted, causing portions of the skull to rip off.

Holmes' Perforators: These abortion instruments were involved in the extraction of the baby by collapsing the skull. The joint mechanism allowed the point to be opened within the skull.

The Lollini: This perforator was used to perform a craniotomy on the baby as the preliminary process in collapsing the skull, which would allow subsequent extraction.

Wow...

Question, though: Were these tools typically accepted in the medical community at one point, or were they more of the "back alley abortion" type procedures?

I honestly don't know. Given the span of time covering the instruments I would think that they would be used in both the medical community and probably "back alley" abortions as well. I could be wrong though.

Dear Sophie,

Thank you for all you do!!!

We noticed that "Sing a little louder" on your website and wondered if you have seen the video?

The story is known by the title "Sing a little louder" and is a testimony shared by a German Jew who watched from his church each week trains carrying Jews into a concentration camp. As a church, they decided to just sing a little louder because they did not want to get involved with what was happening. Many years later, as he listened to a woman share her testimony here in America; he wept and stated the same thing is happening here in America as it did in Germany. Christians have learned to just sing a little louder regarding abortion. If the slaughter of millions of innocent babies does not get the church to act, what will?
You can see the 30 second spot on either godtube or youtube below.

Please watch the 2 1/2 minute video here http://operationvoice.org

We were so moved by this powerful testimony that we made the video (with Penny Lea's permission). Please feel free to use the videos in any way you would like. Our prayer is that the videos will be a tool to reach those who have never thought about abortion before.

Thank you!

Michele

Michele -

Thank you for your encouragement!
I will take a look at those videos. I have read the story before, but have never seen a video rendition. Thank you for making me aware of them.

God bless you,
Sophie

To Deng and Sophie,
It should seem that many of these instruments were accepted in the medical community.
This book by Pierre Caseaux details the use of such instruments, including the gruesome Van Huevel's Destructive Forceps.

It's really quite sad Pierre should be able to describe the process of using them in such a casual and impersonal way. But then again, abortion has to dehumanize the unborn in order to make it seem more "acceptable" than it really is.
It's sick how people can be so blind to the suffering of others.

Actually those contraptions were designed to remove a stillborn baby off the mother's womb (and save the mother's life). Jean-Baptiste van Huevel (1802-1883) said he had used his forceps several times, but never on a living child.

If a stillborn child is not removed from mother's womb, it will begin to decompose and is likely to kill the mother. As gruesome as those tools are, they were designed to save the mother's life.

But needless to say, they certainly have indiscriminately been used by the unscrupulous clandestine abortionists without second qualms.
